What Do I Do If My Tooth Falls Out?
If your tooth gets knocked out, there’s a chance we can save it if you get to our office in time.
In these cases, avoid handling the tooth as much as possible. If you can, try placing the tooth back in the socket and biting on a wet washcloth or another soft, moist material.
If the tooth won’t remain in the socket, we recommend placing it in a clean container of milk or your saliva. Milk is a proven short-term preservative for knocked-out teeth because it contains proteins that maintain a consistent acid-to-alkaline ratio, antibacterial substances, and sugars to keep the cells growing.
If you’re experiencing any bleeding, apply a cold, damp compress to slow bleeding and reduce the pain.
